Menorah

Each menorah is turned on the lathe from a single block of wood and assembled with tight mortise-and-tenon joints. We work most often in Galilee olive wood (warm honey-coloured grain) or American walnut (dark, close-grained, holds detail well), with brass oil cups sourced from a workshop in Jaffa we have collaborated with for years.

A hand-turned hanukkiah moves with the seasons — wood changes humidity in autumn and spring — so we let every piece stabilise in the workshop for several weeks before final shaping. The shamash is set 8–10 mm taller than the eight branches and stepped forward of the line so it reads as separate.

Finish is two coats of food-safe walnut oil, hand-rubbed. Customisation: engraved family name, wedding date, or a Hebrew dedication on the underside of the base. A wooden case is available for safe storage between holidays.
