Wooden bowl

Lathe-turned bowls are a classic carpentry gift — heavy, useful, and the kind of thing that gets reached for every weekend. We turn ours from green or part-dried blanks of olive, walnut, or maple, leave the wall thickness deliberate at 6–8 mm, and let the bowl finish its drying after rough turning.

Olive wood gives the most dramatic grain — flame patterns and dark streaks — but it moves the most during drying. Walnut is more restrained, with a deep chocolate tone. Maple is pale with subtle figure and is the easiest to engrave or burn-decorate on the rim.

Finish: food-safe walnut oil for everyday use; we can also apply a hardwax for fruit-bowl service. Sizes range from 18 cm (table centrepiece) to 35 cm (serving bowl). Customisation: an inscribed name or date on the underside.
