Functional Prototypes

MJP parts off the ProJet 3500 are rigid acrylic with a clean isotropic-looking surface — stiff enough to assemble, thread, and load-test, not just to look at. We use them for parts that have to do a job: assembly jigs, drill guides, locating fixtures, gauges, brackets, and short runs of end-use components where injection tooling does not pencil out.

Walls hold dimension well — we routinely deliver ±0.1 mm on feature size — so press-fits, clearance holes, and bolt patterns mate the first time. The material is harder and more brittle than nylon, so it suits static and lightly-loaded parts rather than snap-fits flexed thousands of times; tell us the load case and we will say honestly whether MJP is the right call or whether you want a milled part instead.

Send STEP (preferred for solid bodies) or STL plus a note on tolerances that matter and any threaded features. For a fixture you will reuse, we can print it in two materials — a rigid body with the part-contact surfaces in the same acrylic — and ship it with the locating datums marked.
